I caught your 3rd set last night at
Joe's Grotto, and although I hadn't planned to stick around to the bitter end, the music was just too compelling!
Excellent song selection without being eccentric or stilted.
Good blend of "traditional" classics with newer material so there's something for everyone, but not just the same stuff verybody plays.
My personal favorite was "Let me roll it"; great guitar work! It sticks out because it requires finesse to pull it off
so its not often heard.
I enjoyed your rendition of "All Right Now" - another good pick. "Born on the Bayou" was also terrific, but perhaps stretched just a bit longer than necessary.
My compliments on paying attention to varying the sonic palette so each song retains its own character. This really keeps it interesting. Too many bands sound exactly the same from one song to the next. Whatever delays this may incur between songs is worth it in the end.
The solid support from the bass and drums did not go unnoticed. Good communication, coordination and steady, rockin' tempos with well placed precision fills.
I thought the "finale" was going to resolve into a kick-ass song, but it never quite materialized. Please consider tacking on something like "Closing Time" by Semisonic -( Kerry, the piano riff could be picked up by a guitar. )
All in all, you have a tight, focused sound, a good mix, and I hope to hear you again. Next time I plan to catch your earlier sets...
You could probably do justice to anything you put your mind to, but I think you would bring something special to select tunes from: Coldplay/Cake/Talking Heads/Crowded House/Police/Pink Floyd/Badfinger/U2 [not necessarily in any particular order.]
